Nasmeen Ahmed served as Senior Manager Communications at icddr,b (formerly known as International  Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh) from 2010 to 2015 and as Fund and Institutional Development  Officer from 2007 to 2010. Nasmeen helped raise millions of dollars in funding for icddr,b through overseas government aid agencies, academic and corporate houses. She also oversaw the media and communications strategy for icddr,b’s  golden jubilee celebrations in 2010 and served as icddr,b’s media spokesperson.

Nasmeen worked as Social Protection Coordinator at the International Labour Office Bangladesh from 2001 to 2006 and helped implement ILO-IPEC’s Worst Forms of Child Labour (WFCL) project. The project received approximately US$15 million in funding from the Royal Netherlands Government. Nasmeen provided technical support to local NGOs to develop and implement social protection programmes such as non-formal education, vocational skills training and socio-economic empowerment of families to eliminate WFCL in Dhaka city.

Nasmeen has also worked with Save the Children USA as Programme Officer (Organisational Learning) from 2000 to 2001. She also worked as Communications and Fundraising consultant at PLAN International Nepal from 1998 to 1999 and as Documentation Officer at CREHPA, a Nepalese research organisation focusing on population and public health issues.

Nasmeen has expertise in the areas of communications, organisational development, project management, fund-raising, and stakeholder relations. She is also highly skilled in documentation, editing, and report writing having produced numerous annual reports, funding proposals and media articles.   

Nasmeen is currently working as Coordinator with the Adult Migrants’ English Programme (AMEP), a Migrant Services programme implemented by Australia’s Dept. of Home Affairs. She provides resettlement support to migrant and refugee families in Canberra.

Nasmeen holds post-graduate and graduate degrees in Sociology from the Unversity of Pune, India; a diploma in French language and studies from Checik Anto Diop University, Senegal; an Exended Diploma in Leadership and Management from Brighton School of Business, UK; and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, Canberra. She is also engaged in voluntary work with NGOs supporting immigrant and minority communities in Canberra.
